BCF Young Chef of the Year 2014

Ray Steplin (House of Commons) wins the BCF Young Chef of the Year 2014, which took place at University College Birmingham on Monday 10th November.

The competition has now been running for 17 years, and this year again, the final produced a very strong line up of competitors with extremely high standards set.

Ray wins the David Bache Trophy, a cheque for £250, framed winner’s certificate and commemorative plate and a study trip to Luxembourg courtesy of Villeroy & Boch. Runner up was Andrew McKee, Lough Erne Resort, Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, and third was Leonidas Kattou, Simpsons Restaurant, Birmingham who was also awarded “Best Main Course”.

Best Starter: Miranda Johnson, Restaurant Adam Handling at Caxton, St Ermin’s Hotel, London.

Best Sweet: Joe Parsons, International Convention Centre, Birmingham.

Line caught Mackerel fillet, Pear Chutney, Cucumber and Pomegranate.

Fallow Deer, Parsnip, Vitelotte, Spring Onion.

Banana Cheesecake.
